Recreation - Sports
It wasn't too long ago that cornhole fell into the same category as the rest of the sleepy outdoor backyard games. Whether it was Bocce Ball, Horseshoes, or Volleyball, they were all the type of games that you saw at the occasional family reunion or random party, but not really anywhere else. In the last few years though, we have seen cornhole go from a random obscure game to a national obsession. The large part of the growth appears to have been with college kids and younger adults who can't get enough of the game. Who would've thought that this cornhole game would yield a nation-wide organization, tournaments, televised events, and even a movie!
The equipment you need is next to nothing, just 4 bags per each team and a couple of cornhole boxes and you are set to go. You place the boxes around 27 feet apart from the front and the opponents take turns to try and get their bag in the hole of the opposing box. Even though the cornhole rules are a piece of cake, it doesn't stop people from playing hours on end to master the game. Its the perfect example of the saying "A minute to learn, a lifetime to master". The game has exploded as you can see the game if you pass through any midwest town from spring to summer. Where the game is most popular is with college aged students and with younger adults. That's not too surprising given that its one of the few backyard sports that allows you to carry a drink with you while you play. Perfect for any college kid!
In the past, there was virtually nowhere where you could find cornhole bags. You'd have to rely on someone that knew how to sew to make cornhole bags for you. Now, they are all over the internet, farmers markets, and many local vendors are starting to carry the game after demand from their customers. There are even recent innovations to release weather resistant bags which will prevent the bags from invasion by critters looking for the corn. This is great news for cornhole players because the ease of getting the equipment has made the game spread quicker. And it also gives everybody a chance to get ahold of the equipment at a reasonable price.
Companies are also starting to use cornhole equipment as a way to thank their clients and give something a little unique. Because of the demand for this, cornhole dealers have started to offer boards and
cornhole bags customized with the corporate logo. When you think about this, its really a great move. The company gets to give a gift that is unique and can be used for a long time. The recipient can use the boards and bags for a long time and always remember who they got them from, that doesn't happen with fruit baskets and cans of cashews. In the age where customers are used to getting gifts of some sort from their vendors, giving a thoughtful gift like that can really distance yourself from your competition and stick out in the minds of your customers.
So, are you convinced that cornhole is the wave of the future yet? If it hasn't arrived yet in your area, then maybe you can be the trend setter. If you aren't quite convinced and you want to try the game out, you don't have to spend a lot of money to get the boards, you can simply go online and find some cornhole dimensions so you can build your own. With a little lumber and some time, you can have your set in no time and be spreading the gospel of cornhole in your neck of the woods. It has proven time and time again that Americans are always up for a fun game that the whole family can enjoy. Be the first to spread the word in your town!
